Empowered to Serve

Philippians 2:3

As emerging ladies in the body of Christ, we are called to rise up and become great helpers in our church, families, communities, and vocations, using our gifts, talents, and skills to serve others with dignity, wisdom, strength, and partnership.

Scripture Foundation

Philippians 2:3 - Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

Becoming Great Helpers

As we journey through our walk with God, it is essential to understand the significance of being a helper in the kingdom. The concept of being a helper is deeply rooted in the biblical account of creation, where God created Eve to be a helper suitable for Adam. This role was not meant to be inferior or passive but rather a vital partnership that would bring strength and completeness to their union.

In the apostolic church, we recognize the importance of women as helpers, not just in the domestic sphere but also in the ministry and mission of the church. We see examples of women like Phoebe, Priscilla, and Euodia, who played crucial roles in the early church, serving as deacons, teachers, and ministers. These women were empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve with wisdom, strength, and dignity, and their contributions were invaluable to the growth and expansion of the church.

The role of a helper is not limited to the church or family but also extends to our vocations and communities. As emerging ladies, we are called to be salt and light in the world, using our gifts and talents to make a positive impact on those around us. Whether we are in the workplace, school, or community, we have the opportunity to serve others with excellence and integrity, demonstrating the character of Christ in all we do.

A Story for the Heart

I will never forget the story of Auntie Ama, a dedicated helper in our church who has been serving for over two decades. Her selfless devotion to the work of the Lord has inspired countless young women, including myself, to follow in her footsteps. Despite facing many challenges and setbacks, Auntie Ama remains committed to her role, using her gifts and talents to serve others with wisdom, strength, and dignity. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance and dedication, and it reminds us that our roles as helpers are not just about what we do but also about who we are.

As I reflect on my own journey as an emerging lady, I am reminded of the many helpers who have shaped my life and ministry. From my mother, who taught me the value of hard work and dedication, to my spiritual mentors, who have guided me in my walk with God, I am grateful for the many women who have served as helpers in my life. Their examples have inspired me to rise up and become a great helper in my own right, using my gifts and talents to serve others with excellence and integrity.

Wisdom for This Week

To rise as helpers in the kingdom, we must be empowered by the Holy Spirit. This empowerment comes through prayer, worship, and the study of God's word. As we seek to serve others, we must also prioritize our own spiritual growth and development, recognizing that we cannot give what we do not have. By staying connected to God and His word, we can tap into the wisdom, strength, and courage we need to fulfill our roles as helpers.

In the Ghanaian church context, we see many examples of women who are rising up to serve as helpers in their churches, families, and communities. These women are using their gifts and talents to make a positive impact, whether through teaching, preaching, singing, or serving in other capacities. As emerging ladies, we can learn from their examples and be inspired to follow in their footsteps, using our own unique gifts and talents to serve others.

As we strive to become great helpers in the kingdom, we must remember that our roles are not limited to traditional expectations or stereotypes. We are called to be innovative, creative, and courageous in our service, using our gifts and talents to meet the needs of those around us. By doing so, we can bring glory to God, build up the body of Christ, and make a lasting impact on our world.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of women as helpers in your kingdom. Empower us with your Holy Spirit to serve others with wisdom, strength, and dignity. Help us to rise up and become great helpers in our church, families, communities, and vocations, using our gifts and talents to make a positive impact on those around us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
