Becoming Great Helpers

Grace is the foundation upon which every helper stands. In Isaiah 40:31 we read that those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, soaring on wings like eagles. For the emerging lady, this promise means that her service is not rooted in human effort alone but in the unending supply of God’s favor. As she embraces this truth, she discovers a confidence that transcends cultural expectations and empowers her to step into every sphere of influence with boldness.

The apostolic calling emphasizes partnership with the Holy Spirit. When we submit our hearts to the Spirit’s leading, we receive discernment to identify the needs of our families, churches, workplaces, and neighborhoods. This discernment is cultivated through disciplined prayer, diligent study of Scripture, and a humble willingness to be taught by seasoned mentors. In the Ghanaian context, this often looks like joining women’s prayer circles, participating in community outreach, and offering counsel in family matters, all while keeping the Spirit at the center.

Spiritual gifts are the tools God gives each helper to fulfill her purpose. Whether it is the gift of encouragement, teaching, hospitality, or administration, recognizing and exercising these gifts brings glory to God and edifies those around us. Emerging ladies should seek a formal gifting assessment within their local assembly and then commit to using those gifts in practical ways—such as organizing youth Bible studies, preparing meals for the sick, or managing church finances with integrity.

After attending a women’s discipleship workshop at the Central Assembly, she learned to anchor her hope in Isaiah 40:31. Challenges—be they financial pressures, societal expectations, or personal trials—will arise, but the promise of Isaiah assures us that we will “run and not grow weary.” Emerging helpers are encouraged to form accountability groups where they can share burdens, celebrate victories, and pray fervently for one another, thereby sustaining each other's stamina.

Fill every emerging lady with the Holy Spirit’s wisdom, courage, and love, that she may serve with dignity in her home, church, workplace, and community. May Your Word be a lamp to her feet and a guide to her service, and may she always find partnership in the Body of Christ.
