Serving with Humility and Excellence
1 Peter 4:10
As emerging ladies in the Apostolic Church-Ghana, we are called to become great helpers, serving with humility and excellence in our church, families, communities, and vocations, recognizing our value and worth as co-laborers with men in the kingdom of God, and using our gifts, talents, and skills to make a positive impact in the lives of those around us.
Scripture Foundation
1 Peter 4:10 - Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
Becoming Great Helpers
As we strive to become great helpers, it is essential to understand the importance of humility in our service. Humility is not about being weak or timid, but about being willing to learn, grow, and serve others with dignity and respect. In 1 Peter 4:10, we are reminded that each of us has received a special gift, and we are to use it to serve others, just as Christ served us.
Serving with humility requires us to be mindful of our attitudes and actions. We must be willing to listen, learn, and take feedback from others, and to use our gifts and talents to build up and edify those around us. This means being willing to take on tasks and responsibilities that may not be glamorous or recognized, but are essential to the well-being and success of our church, families, and communities.
As emerging ladies, we have a unique opportunity to serve with excellence in our various roles and responsibilities. Whether we are serving in our local church, in our families, or in our communities, we can make a positive impact by using our gifts, talents, and skills to serve others with dignity, wisdom, strength, and partnership. This requires us to be intentional about our service, to be creative and innovative in our approach, and to be willing to take risks and try new things.
A Story for the Heart
I remember a sister in our church who served with humility and excellence in our community. She was a talented cook, and she used her gift to serve others by providing meals for those in need. She did not seek to draw attention to herself, but instead served quietly and faithfully, using her gift to build up and edify those around her. Her service was a powerful witness to the love and compassion of Christ, and it inspired others to follow her example and serve with humility and excellence.
Another example of serving with humility and excellence is the story of a young lady who served in our church's children's ministry. She was a gifted teacher, and she used her gift to serve others by teaching and mentoring the children in our church. She was creative, innovative, and passionate about her service, and she inspired the children to learn and grow. Her service was a powerful reminder that serving with humility and excellence is not just about what we do, but about who we are, and that our service can have a lasting impact on the lives of those around us.
Wisdom for This Week
Serving with excellence also requires us to be accountable and responsible in our service. This means being reliable, dependable, and trustworthy, and being willing to take ownership of our actions and decisions. It also means being willing to learn from our mistakes, and to use them as opportunities for growth and development.
As we serve with humility and excellence, we can expect to face challenges and obstacles along the way. There will be times when we feel discouraged, frustrated, or overwhelmed, and when we wonder if our service is making a difference. But it is in these moments that we must remember our calling and purpose as helpers, and that we are not alone in our service. We are part of a larger community of believers, and we can draw on the support, encouragement, and guidance of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Ultimately, serving with humility and excellence is not just about what we do, but about who we are. It is about becoming the kind of women who are characterized by dignity, wisdom, strength, and partnership, and who use their gifts, talents, and skills to make a positive impact in the lives of those around us. As we strive to become great helpers, let us remember that our service is not just about what we do, but about who we are becoming, and let us seek to glorify God in all that we do.
