Reflection
The apostle Paul exhorts Timothy to abandon youthful cravings that lead to sin and instead to run after virtues that reflect Christ’s character. This verse teaches that true discipleship involves a deliberate, continual turning away from what entangles and a purposeful movement toward godly qualities, anchored in a pure heart that earnestly calls upon the Lord.
In our daily lives we must examine the desires that dominate our thoughts and replace them with intentional practices of righteousness, faith, love, and peace—joining with fellow believers who share a sincere longing for God. May the Holy Spirit empower you to flee temptation and pursue holiness with confidence, knowing the Lord walks beside you.
Prayer
Father, grant me the strength to turn from harmful cravings and to seek righteousness, faith, love, and peace each day. Fill my heart with purity, and surround me with brothers and sisters who encourage this holy pursuit. May Your Spirit guide my steps. In Jesus' name, Amen.
