"If you love me, keep my commands." Jesus links love with obedience, inviting us into a relationship that proves its depth by faithful action. As believers, we are called to mirror His love by surrendering our will to His revealed will.
Scripture Focus
John 14:15 - "If you love me, you will obey what I command.
Reflection
In the gospel of John, Christ makes a simple yet profound equation: love for Him is demonstrated by keeping His commands. This truth is rooted in the covenantal love of Israel, where obedience was the tangible expression of devotion (Deuteronomy 6:5‑6). By aligning our hearts with Christ’s teachings, we partake in the same covenant, allowing the Holy Spirit to shape our desires to match His will.
Practically, this means letting love move us beyond sentiment into daily choices—whether it is serving the needy, speaking truth in love, or persisting in prayer even when weary. As we obey, we experience the joy of walking in step with the Savior, confident that each faithful act draws us nearer to His heart. Let us therefore embrace obedience as the natural overflow of our love, trusting that God will use our small steps to display His great love to the world.
Prayer
Lord, give us a heart that loves you enough to follow your commands, and the strength to act on that love each day. Fill us with your Spirit so we may walk faithfully, trusting your good purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.
