2026 Theme of the Year
"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you" (NIV). It emphasizes divine initiative in salvation, the purpose of bearing lasting spiritual fruit, and the promise of answered prayer in Jesus' name.

FULFILLING THE APOSTOLIC MANDATE
— John 15:16 —

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."
— John 15:16 (NKJV)

1. THE 2026 THEME AT A GLANCE

The Apostolic Church Ghana's 2026 theme, "Fulfilling the Apostolic Mandate," is a Spirit-directed word for the entire church — every assembly, every ministry, every member. It is not a programme theme; it is a prophetic posture. It calls the church to align her corporate and personal life with the original purpose for which Christ chose and appointed her.

John 15:16 is the lens through which 2026 must be viewed. Every decision, every outreach plan, every prayer meeting, and every sermon this year should be measured against this benchmark: Are we going? Are we bearing fruit? Is the fruit remaining? Are we asking the Father in His name?

This is the year The Apostolic Church Ghana says YES to her divine appointment — decisively, actively, and with fresh dependence on the Holy Spirit.

2. VERSE-BY-VERSE EXPOSITION OF JOHN 15:16

2a. "You did not choose Me"

In first-century Jewish culture, disciples chose their rabbi. Jesus reversed this entirely. This opening clause strips away every claim of self-sufficiency. The church in 2026 does not pursue mission on the basis of its own strength, wisdom, or track record. The initiative belongs entirely to God. This truth is the antidote to pride and the foundation of genuine faith.

Practically, this means that 2026 ministry must be surrendered ministry — saturated in prayer, sensitive to the Spirit, and free from the desire for man's applause.

Ephesians 2:10 — "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

2b. "But I chose you"

The Greek word used here is eklegomai — a deliberate, purposeful selection. God's choice of His church is not passive or accidental. It is intentional and mission-specific. In 2026, every believer in The Apostolic Church Ghana must embrace the identity of 'the chosen' not as a badge of superiority, but as the weight of divine responsibility.

You are chosen for a function. That function is fruitfulness in the world.

1 Peter 2:9 — "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light."

2c. "Appointed you"

To be appointed (tithemi) is to be set in position with authority. In 2026, every believer is already appointed — in their home, workplace, school, neighbourhood, and community. This is not waiting for ordination. This is the universal appointment of the redeemed. The Apostolic Church Ghana must in 2026 activate this reality in the life of every member through intentional equipping and mobilisation.

Ephesians 4:11-12 — "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry."

2d. "That you should go"

The mandate demands movement. The church cannot fulfil her apostolic calling from behind the four walls of a building. "Go" is the operative word in 2026. Go into your street. Go into the market. Go into the hospital. Go into the prisons. Go into the schools. The harvest is outside.

This year, every district, area, and local assembly of The Apostolic Church Ghana should have a deliberate outreach strategy that takes the Gospel beyond existing congregation members.

Matthew 28:19 — "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Mark 16:15 — "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."

2e. "Bear fruit"

Fruit in John 15 is the natural result of abiding in the Vine. In 2026, fruitfulness for The Apostolic Church Ghana means: souls won to Christ, believers discipled, communities transformed, families restored, and the Kingdom of God expanding. Busyness without fruitfulness is not faithfulness.

Every assembly must ask: What fruit are we producing in 2026? New converts? New disciples? Healed families? Transformed communities? These are the metrics of the apostolic mandate.

Galatians 5:22-23 — "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control."

2f. "That your fruit should remain"

This is the quality test. Not just fruit — but fruit that lasts. Remaining fruit speaks of deep discipleship, genuine conversion, and lasting community impact. In 2026, The Apostolic Church Ghana must move beyond event-based Christianity and invest in structures that produce durable transformation: consistent follow-up, strong small groups, mentorship, and Spirit-filled teaching.

Crusades that win no disciples, programmes that produce no changed lives — these do not pass the test of remaining fruit. The church must be ruthlessly intentional about follow-through.

2g. "That whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you"

The final clause ties the entire mandate to prayer. The promise is extraordinary: access to the Father, in the authority of Jesus' name, in service of the mandate. Prayer is not a preliminary to mission; it is the engine of mission. The 2026 fulfilment of the apostolic mandate will rise or fall on the prayer culture of the church.

Every assembly in 2026 must be a praying assembly — early morning prayers, all-night intercessions, fasting, and corporate prayer for the harvest. The mandate is empowered by prayer.

Colossians 4:3 — "Praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ."

3. THE FIVE PILLARS OF THE APOSTOLIC MANDATE IN 2026

John 15:16 sits within the broader framework of Scripture's apostolic commission. For 2026, The Apostolic Church Ghana's fulfilment of the mandate rests on five strategic pillars:

PILLAR 1: FERVENT PRAYER

Acts 1:14 records that before Pentecost, the disciples "all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication." The mandate begins and is sustained in prayer. In 2026, every assembly must cultivate a deliberate prayer culture — not prayer as a formality, but prayer as warfare, intercession, and communion with the Father.

Acts 1:8 — "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

PILLAR 2: BOLD EVANGELISM

Evangelism is the frontline of the apostolic mandate. In 2026, The Apostolic Church Ghana must deploy every tool available: open-air preaching, door-to-door outreach, social media evangelism, workplace witness, and community engagement. Every member is an evangelist in their sphere.

Romans 10:14-15 — "How shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace."

PILLAR 3: INTENTIONAL DISCIPLESHIP

Winning souls without making disciples is incompleteness. In 2026, every convert must be discipled. Every church must have a structured discipleship pathway — from new believer to committed disciple to deployed minister. The mandate is to make disciples, not merely to take decisions.

Colossians 1:28 — "Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus."

PILLAR 4: SIGNS, WONDERS & THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Apostolic Church is, by nature and name, a church that believes in the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in all His gifts and power. In 2026, the church must not retreat from this identity. Signs following the preaching of the Word — healings, deliverance, miracles, prophetic ministry — are part of fulfilling the mandate.

Mark 16:17-18 — "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues... they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

PILLAR 5: CHURCH PLANTING & EXPANSION

The apostolic mandate is expansionary by nature. In 2026, every district and area must prayerfully identify unreached communities and plant new assemblies. The church that is not planting is not fulfilling the full scope of the mandate. New assemblies are the fruit that remains — communities of faith that outlast any single event.

Acts 14:23 — "So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed."

4. WHAT 2026 MUST LOOK LIKE: A PRACTICAL VISION

The 2026 theme is not theoretical. Here is what Fulfilling the Apostolic Mandate should look like at every level of church life:

FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL MEMBER

- Commit to personal daily Bible study and prayer, abiding in the Vine (John 15:4).
- Identify at least one person in your circle of influence to intentionally share the Gospel with.
- Be faithful in church attendance, tithes, and participation in outreach activities.
- Ask God regularly: "Where and to whom are You sending me in 2026?"

FOR EVERY LOCAL ASSEMBLY

- Launch or revitalise an outreach team specifically targeting the immediate community.
- Establish a structured new-converts discipleship class for all who accept Christ.
- Hold at least one community evangelism crusade or outreach event in 2026.
- Pray corporately for the harvest — weekly, with fasting at least monthly.
- Track fruit: record souls won, baptised, discipled, and integrated into the assembly.

FOR LEADERSHIP & MINISTRY TEAMS

- Preach and teach the theme consistently through sermons, Bible studies, and devotionals.
- Equip members through training in personal evangelism, prayer, and spiritual gifts.
- Identify one unreached community within reach for potential church planting.
- Submit every major decision and programme to the standard of John 15:16: Does it produce lasting fruit?

5. A WORD OF EXHORTATION FOR 2026

The Apostolic Church Ghana does not enter 2026 with a new idea — she enters with a renewed appointment. The Lord who said "I chose you" in John 15:16 is the same Lord who says it again in 2026. His call has not been revoked. His promise has not expired. His Spirit has not been withdrawn.

The question for every member of The Apostolic Church Ghana is the question Isaiah answered in Isaiah 6:8: "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" May the answer from every assembly, every district, every leader, and every layperson in 2026 be the same: "Here am I! Send me."

Fulfil the mandate. Go and bear fruit. Fruit that remains.

Isaiah 6:8 — "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? Then I said, Here am I! Send me."

John 15:16 — "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."
