DEVOTIONAL

Yesterday, we were challenged to start where we are — in our Jerusalem, among the familiar faces and familiar spaces of our daily lives. Today, Jesus calls us one step further: into Judea.

Judea was the wider region surrounding Jerusalem. It was not foreign territory — the people there shared the same culture, the same language, the same faith background as the disciples. And yet, going to Judea required leaving the comfort and familiarity of home. It required intentional movement outward.

There is a pattern in how God grows His people and expands His Kingdom. He rarely asks us to leap from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth in one moment. He leads us step by step — from the intimate to the familiar, from the familiar to the slightly uncomfortable, and from the uncomfortable to the unknown. Judea represents that second step: the stretch beyond what is easy.

For many of us, Judea looks like the community we have never engaged, the church we have never visited for fellowship, the town outside our own where people are waiting for someone to come. It is the effort that costs us time, energy, and the surrender of routine.

Today is Sunday — a day the Church gathers. But the gathering is never the final destination. Every sermon heard, every song sung, every prayer prayed is fuel for going. The Church assembles so that it may be scattered again, this time carrying the fire of what it encountered in God’s presence.

As you worship today, ask yourself: Am I willing to go beyond what is comfortable for the sake of the mandate? Judea is waiting. The harvest is there — it simply needs labourers willing to make the journey.

Will you go?

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1. What is your “Judea” — the space just beyond your comfort zone where God may be calling you to extend His Kingdom?

2. Are you treating Sunday worship as a destination or as preparation for going? How does that shape the way you engage today?

3. What practical step can you take this week to reach beyond your immediate circle for Christ?

PRAYER

Lord, stretch us beyond what is comfortable. Give us a heart that is not satisfied with staying when You are calling us to go further. As we gather to worship You today, let Your presence fuel our going. Remove every excuse, every fear, and every reluctance that keeps us within our own borders. Lead us into our Judea — and let us find the harvest You have already prepared there. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DAILY CHALLENGE

Identify one community, group, or space just beyond your usual reach — a neighbouring area, a community group, or a network you have not yet engaged for Christ. Take one concrete step today to begin connecting with that space intentionally.
